London Photo Walks - Leadenhall

The City of London - 2017

Located at the heart of the old Roman city, Leadenhall market dates back to 1321 and has been serving City clientele meat and poultry ever since. Today's current building is late Victorian and features in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as the area around and entrance to Diagon Alley.

The balance between man-made and natural lighting in the market is phenomenal, no matter the time of day or weather. The golden and red glow from the lights and signage lights up the walls whilst the old cobblestones reflect the dispersed sunlight breaking through the ceiling. Around St George's Day in April the scene is completed with flags strewn across the scene adding a patriotic flourish to the area.
