The Shard - 2017
Standing proudly separated from the rest of the city on the south end of London Bridge the Shard is instantly photogenic due to its impressive form and simplicity.
Still the tallest building in Western Europe, the building's size was originally contentious with English Heritage declaring the design to be 'a shard of glass through the heart of historic London', giving the Shard its name. Luckily, Renzo Piano, the skyscraper's lead architect, believed strongly in the delicacy of his design.
Today the Shard is a photographer's gift. As the city has evolved around it new vantage points and framing options have sprung up and the height of the building helps it stand out compared to those around it.
